Our mission is to educate, share adventures and have fun through the love and experience of birds and nature.
We have been providing nature lovers with high quality wild bird seed since 1996. The Los Gatos Birdwatcher celebrates over 25 years of service to our Bay Area customers. We attribute our long success in this community to a hard-working staff, superior customer service and, most importantly, our loyal customers, many of whom have made a commitment to shopping locally. The Los Gatos Birdwatcher store owner Lisa Myers is a south Bay Area native, and has been watching birds since she was a teen. Lisa uses her degree in Communications combined with her roots in small business and passion for birds and birding to excite customers about the world of birds. It started in 2008 when Lisa, the founder of Let’s Go Birding partnered with the Los Gatos Birdwatcher to create monthly bird classes and birding tours.
Then in 2015, on the store’s 20th anniversary, Lisa became the new owner of the Los Gatos Birdwatcher allowing founders, Freddy and John Howell to retire. Both Lisa & Freddy understood that for those new to birding, it can be intimidating. They wanted to provide an atmosphere where everyone felt welcome. Pairing backyard bird feeding with birding adventures paved the way for Let’s Go Birding to become the tour division of the Los Gatos Birdwatcher.
Lisa served five years on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory (SFBBO), and for decades taught adult birding classes for Santa Clara Valley Audubon, the Palo Alto Adult School, the Campbell Recreation Dept. and Foothill College. She also enjoys introducing people to both local and national organizations whose mission is to help birds and preserve habitat. Lisa gained much experince working for Cheesemans’ Ecology Safaris and the Environmental Volunteers and was also one of the few women on the Nikon ProStaff. Lisa has led tours throughout the Bay Area and into California’s Central Valley, Mono Lake, Big Sur, Point Reyes, Yuba Pass, and beyond into Yellowstone, Costa Rica, Belize, and Panama. Lisa’s goal is to design fun, friendly tours and curriculum for folks eager to learn about birds.
In addition to birding, Lisa stays busy keeping the store shelves filled with all the items customers need to feed birds in their backyard. For those of you who do not feed birds, Lisa hopes you will drop by the store to do some shopping for yourself or for a friend as new nature themed items arrive everyday.

IN-STORE WILDLIFE DONATION BOXES
Do you know we clean feeders for free? It is our way to help you maintain a healthy feeding station for your wild birds. However, we do ask that you please donate to one of the local organizations we believe in. Each time a customer picks up their clean bird feeder, they drop cash into one of the donation boxes we have on our back wall: Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center (WERC), Nike Animal Rescue Foundation, Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley, Injured and Orphaned Wildlife, Youth Science Institute (YSI), and Bay Area Raptor Rescue
Are you a birder, retailer or biologist committed to exceptional customer service and interested in partnering or owning your own small business? If you’d like to learn more, please contact Lisa Myers, the store owner.
